Maternity photography is my favorite. Something about those nine months of carrying life is magical. I really consider motherhood an art and a blessing and I feel so grateful that I am able to capture the essence of motherhood through these sessions.
What to wear:
I highly, highly recommend wearing a dress that goes beneath the knees, preferably maxi dresses. I have found that they photograph the best and flatter an expecting mother the best. People tend to go one of two routes, either wearing something tight to accentuate the belly or wearing something loose and flowy.
I love the looser flowy dresses because it gives you yet another element to engage in the photoshoot. I love the way fabric looks when it catches the wind.
I also recommend that clients wear soft, timeless colors. Colors that look particularly great in photos: blue, pink, peach, white, green- avoid neon. I generally do not suggest wearing all black. Black is an absorbing color, which means it hides shadows and folds and makes it difficult to expose correctly for the photo. Great alternatives for black are navy, dark green, and charcoal grey.
The dress pictured below was actually from amazon and was non maternity (Link Here) I also recommend checking non maternity brands like Free People.
If you have picked an outdoor location I also recommend bringing shoes that will make any hiking safe. Some locations, like Sutro Baths have inclines you would not want to navigate in heals or flip flops.
If you want to have a blanket for some sitting shots and want it to color coordinate with your outfit, I recommend you bring your own.
